One person injured after boat ran aground Sunday in Valleyview, KFR says

One hurt in city boat crash

One person was hurt when a boat ran aground Sunday morning on the South Thompson River’s southern bank in Valleyview.

According to Kamloops Fire Rescue platoon Capt. Wade Lindoff, a call initially came in just before 9 a.m. for a boat collision.

Fire crews and RCMP arrived in Valleyview and found a boat on the bank.

“We parked along the highway, we accessed across the [train] tracks, and we did locate a single boat that had run aground into the shore,” Lindoff said.

Lindoff said there were two people who had been on the boat, but both were on the shore and walking around when crews arrived.

One person had suffered injuries as a result of the accident.

“Our jet boat from Station 3 responded as well, and then we used that boat to transport the patient to the Thompson Drive boat launch, where an ambulance was waiting,” Lindoff said.

He said the injured person was then transferred into the care of BC Ambulance paramedics.
