Trucking convoys, motorcycle groups expected to arrive in Kamloops on Saturday, showing support for Tk'emlups

A number of trucking convoys and a group of motorcyclists are planning to drive through Kamloops on Saturday in a gesture of solidarity and support for Tk’emlups te Secwepemc.

Last week, TteS announced they had found the remains of 215 children buried near the site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School.

According to a post on the BC Logging Convoy’s Facebook page, three trucking convoys from Kelowna, Merritt and Williams Lake are scheduled to converge in Kamloops at 11:30 a.m.

The Williams Lake group will be starting from the 150 Mile Gas Station at 7:30 a.m.

The Kelowna group will depart from Chevron Card-Lock at 8:00 a.m., and the Merritt convoy is leaving from the combined Esso and Denny’s Restaurant at 9:30 a.m.

According to social media posts from the Sikh Motorcycle Club and the Kamloops Punjabi Bikers, riders will leave Abbotsford at 9:00 a.m.

“In the spirit of healing and recognition, please join us for a ride to Kamloops in the memory of lost souls,” the post said.

The motorcycle group is planning to end their ride on Chief Alex Thomas Way around noon on Saturday.
