Kamloops Salvation Army recipient of $8.5K donation from Finning

Finning donates $8.5K

The Kamloops Salvation Army has another reason to smile this month.

A generous donation from the employees of Finning CATCanada puts the charitable organization up an additional $8,500.

"We're just so grateful to Finning Canada for recognizing this is a local business, that's here but is represented across the country. And when they are able to put funds back into local ministries and local services, its a great way for us to partner at the larger scale and make sure those funds get to people locally," Cory Fifield, Captain of the Kamloops Salvation Army, told Castanet Kamloops.

Brad Price, mining account manager for the southern B.C. region for Finning, presented the cheque to the the Sally Ann on Tuesday.

The entire collection was a staff based initiative, stemming from Price and his family adopting a local Kamloops family this past Christmas.

Since his couldn't get together because of COVID-19, they decided to give back to the community to ensure someone else had a great Christmas.

"It's just overwhelming the feeling of being able to give back to those people," said Price.

This past holiday season, the Kamloops Salvation Army was able to double the amount of baskets they usually give out, because of the overwhelming charitable donations from businesses like Finning, as well as individual contributions.

"This year we did 225 baskets," Fifield said.

"Thats twice as many as we've done in previous years, and you just see the huge increase in need this year."
