Rayleigh residents report hearing loud explosion, but Kamloops Mounties find nothing

Rayleigh residents are looking for answers after a loud bang shook the neighbourhood on Monday night.

Police were called to the 400-block of Chilco Avenue in Rayleigh at about 8 p.m. on Monday for a report of a loud explosion.

“The report was of vibrations and not a usual sound,” RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn told Castanet Kamloops.

Police patrolled the area but could not find the source of the sound, Evelyn said.

A number of Rayleigh residents took to social media, asking neighbours if they’d heard the bang and, more importantly, wondering what caused it.

Evelyn said police would like to know what it was, too.

“If somebody does find the source of it, we do like to solve those mysteries,” she said.
