Coquihalla reopens after overnight closure south of Merritt

DriveBC reports the Coquihalla Highway has reopened at the scene of a serious crash between Hope and Merritt.

It had been closed since Wednesday evening.

UPDATE: 6:10 a.m.

Southbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway remain closed early this morning after a serious collision between Hope and Merritt.

DriveBC reports police are investigating the incident, with vehicle recovery to follow.

The estimated time of reopening is 8 a.m.

The severity of any injuries involved is not yet known.

According to DriveBC, the southbound lanes between Hope and Merritt remain closed due to a vehicle incident.

A collision has once again closed the Coquihalla Highway.

According to DriveBC, the highway is closed between Hope and Merritt due to a vehicle incident.

A caller to Castanet who drove through the area said the incident appears to involve two semi trucks.

DriveBC says there is currently no estimated time of reopening and there is an assessment in progress.

The next update on the closure is due at 9:30 p.m.
