Judge hearing evidence in alleged 2000 murder of pregnant Kamloops woman

Murder prelim underway

A preliminary inquiry began Monday in Kamloops provincial court for a man charged with murder in connection with the death of a Kamloops woman who went missing two decades ago.

Nineteen years after the disappearance of Angel Lyn Fehr, Trent Alan Larsen was arrested by police on Sept. 15, 2019, and charged with one count of second-degree murder.

While listening to the Crown outline its case, Larson, 57, sat in the prisoner’s box, wearing headphones, a blue mask and a red prison-issue jumpsuit.

Fehr, 27, was reported missing in June 2000 by concerned family members. She was last seen on the evening of April 23, 2000, in Abbotsford, at an Easter dinner with her family, including her two daughters.

Fehr, who was five months pregnant, left the dinner to return to Kamloops with Larsen, her boyfriend. She wasn’t heard from again.

Nearly two decades later, RCMP located Fehr’s body on a rural property just outside of 100 Mile House.

The preliminary inquiry is expected to continue in Kamloops provincial court for two weeks, after which the judge will decide whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial in B.C. Supreme Court.
