Chefs in the City continue a 12 year tradition, only with a different look in 2021

Chefs remain in the City

The Chefs in the City won’t be stopped because of Covid-19.

It will just look a little different in Kamloops this year.

Carrying on a 12 year tradition, the event featuring the best restaurants, wineries and breweries will take a bubble approach for 2021.

The celebration of the culinary scene in Kamloops helps numerous community groups supported by the Rotary Club of Kamloops.

The Chefs have reworked the event this year, but still intend to include three dinners, each as a five course meal with wine pairings, with those who have bubbled together.

The three dinners scheduled are going to be held on Monday’s, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This year, people can purchase tickets for their bubble, and a week before the dinner they will be assigned a participating restaurant.

The restaurant will present their version of the set theme, with either two pours of wine or a flight of wine from local establishments who have been involved in the past.

The first dinner is set for Monday, Jan. 25 with the theme of ‘Flavours of the West Coast’.

Restaurants involved in this first dinner include Cordo Resto and Bar, Earls Kitchen and Bar, Mittz Kitchen, Twisted Olive and Romeo’s Kitchen and Spirits.

As for the other two dinners, the dates will be Monday, Feb. 22 and Monday Mar. 29, but the themes and restaurants will be announced later.

All three dinners are available for $200 per person, or an individual dinner is $75 per person.

Tickets for each ‘Covid bubble’ should be purchased as a separate transaction so organizers know to put the group at a shared table.

Mingling between tables will not be allowed this year due to Covid protocols, however there will be a presentation segment at each restaurant by the chef and featured beverage provider.

These will also be broadcasted on Facebook Live, and it is encouraged that diners share online so that they can interact with other in-restaurant diners, as well as those at the other locations.

Over the past 12 years, Chefs in the City has raised $400,000 for the community.
