User groups, swim teams are now using renovated Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Kamloops

TCC re-opens doors to pool

The Canada Games Aquatic Centre is ready to show off its new look.

The pool, which closed last spring for extensive renovations, re-opened on Jan. 2 to swim clubs and swimming lessons, ringing in new beginnings for 2021.

The first team in the pool was the Kamloops Sunrays Synchronized Swim Team.

Competitive coach Disa Fladmark spoke with Castanet about the new look of the centre.

"It's so much brighter in here and makes it easier to see the girls in the water," Fladmark says.

The pool had many upgrades, including change rooms and wheelchair access to the whirlpool. There are also Covid-19 safety measures in place.

The doors will be opening to the public as of Jan. 15, and the online portal is now open to the public.

The CGAC tells Castanet that a maximum of 48 swimmers are allowed in the pool at a time to keep COVID-19 protocols in place.
