Shop owner creates Kamloops-branded shirts to promote tourism, civic pride

Adina Markin, owner of Ms. Whimsy's Gift Emporium, has created Kamloops-specific t-shirts to unite the community and promote tourism within the area.

The idea came to Markin when it was announced that the Rocky Mountaineer would not be operating because of the pandemic. She knew local shops were going to be hurting from the lack of tourists.

Markin hopes her shirts will instil a sense of pride within the community.

Mayor Ken Christian is supportive of the shirts.

"We've really been pushing as a city to rediscover Kamloops," he says.

Ms. Whimsy's is located at 245 First Ave. in downtown Kamloops.
