Retired colonel shares story

After 34 years of service with the Canadian Army and Army Reserve, retired Col. John Conrad has a few stories to tell.

Fittingly, he's written a few books about his time and experiences. His latest book, Among the Walking Wounded: Soldiers, Survival, and PTSD, discusses the lives of soldiers touched by post-traumatic stress disorder. The non-fiction stories of the three people Conrad focuses on provide an intimate look at the struggles they face.

At this event, Conrad will talk about his time in the military and returning to civilian life. He'll also sign books after his talk.

The book talk is happening at the Xchange, the new United Way space on the North Shore at 286 Tranquille Rd, on Oct. 24 (Thursday).

Admission is by donation with proceeds going to the Canadian Mental Health Association, but registration is necessary as there are limited seats.
