Lumber truck rolls on its side on Battle Street off-ramp

A semi carrying lumber has rolled over on a busy downtown Kamloops street.

The big rig rolled onto its side at the Battle Street off-ramp, where it joins into Valleyview Drive.

RCMP are asking drivers to avoid the area. 

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the driver of the truck was the only occupant and suffered minor injuries. 

Traffic is single-lane, alternating at the scene.

"It will take some time to clear the truck and the lumber from the road," says Shelkie.

Traffic is already slow in the downtown area due to construction along West Victoria Street.
