Fired at vehicles, people

Kamloops RCMP responded to two incidents Saturday of a man firing paint balls at moving vehicles and threatening people with his weapon.

The suspect was initially reported at Costco with his weapon, firing at a vehicle. He was subsequently observed travelling to Valleyview, but police attempts to apprehend him there were unsuccessful.

Later in the afternoon, police were called to a similar incident near the Sandman Centre and Riverside Park.

Kamloops RCMP caught up to the suspect in the 800 block of Lorne Street and took him into custody.

"This was certainly a serious series of events that our members were able to successfully stop. This individual was really acting dangerously, and we are thankful he didn't cause any accidents or injuries to anyone prior to his arrest," said staff sergant Mat Van Lear from the Kamloops RCMP.

The investigation is ongoing, the male does not appear to be from the area. No further information is being released by police at this time until this case is brought forward to Crown counsel for charge assessment.

Anyone who may have either witnessed and/or had any interaction with this male is encouraged to contact the Kamloops

RCMP non emergency line at 250-828-3000. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can also report to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
