Bears close Kamloops park

The City of Kamloops closed McArthur Island Park Monday afternoon while it waited for a mother bear and two cubs to leave the area.

In a press release, the city said the mother bear has shown signs of aggressive behaviour.

"For the safety of the public and the three bears, the park will remain closed until the bears have moved on," the city said in a press release.

Staff closed park entrances and the walking bridge.

The park was reopened about 5 p.m. after the bears left the area.
