Baby Riel battling cancer

At only eight months old, little Riel Antoine was diagnosed with cancer due to a malignant brain tumour.

After a 10-hour surgery, most of the tumour was removed, but some still remains in the Kamloops tot's brain stem.

Baby Riel suffered a bone infection as a result of the long surgery and has now started the process of chemotherapy treatment.

Parents Frank and Bonnie Antoine are facing a long and difficult road.

GoFundMe campaign has been started for Riel, to assist the family during the hardship.

Riel's treatment will take place over the course of six months, but further treatment may be required, taking up to a year or more.

Frank and Bonnie spend most of their time beside Riel at Vancouver Children's Hospital, and many more weeks are ahead.

The two of them are currently off work with no pay.
