Two fires 10 minutes apart

Emergency crews in Kamloops were kept hopping with back-to-back fires 10 minutes apart.

Police are investigating the two suspicious residential fires that occurred on the North Shore early Sunday morning.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said at 2:08 a.m. on March 24, police and Kamloops Fire Rescue attended a fire in the 800 block of Evergreen Place.

The fire had started outside of the house, spread to some cedar trees and then damaged the side of the home.

Then, just 10 minutes later, crews attended another residential fire in the 600 block of York Ave.

This fire also started outside of a house and damaged the side of the home.

There were no injuries and minor damage at both locations.

“Kamloops RCMP is investigating both of these fires,” said Shelkie. “Because of the similar nature of where the fires started and the timeline of when they started, we will be determining if they are arson and if they are related.”

Anyone with information about either fire is urged to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.

To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
