Chairlift towers flown in

The towers for a brand new chairlift at Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops were officially flown into position via helicopter.

The new four-passenger fixed-grip chairlift, located in the East Village area of the resort, is on track to open just in time for Christmas.

This Orient chairlift addition to Sun Peaks Resorts' lift network will improve access to the main village and to some of the most under-utilized ski terrain in the resort like family-friendly blue runs and pockets of glade skiing.

The arrival of the towers had been delayed because of poor flying conditions while Mother Nature blanketed the slopes with 30 cm of new snow in the past week.

Sun Peaks' alpine base is sitting just above 90 cm, with 79 runs now open across the resort's three mountains.

Sun Peaks Resorts' 2018-2019 alpine map, including the location of the Orient chairlift can be found here.
