Tracked down by K9

A 40-year-old Kamloops man tried to prove wrong the old adage: You can run, but you can't hide.

Close to midnight, Kamloops RCMP responded to a car stuck in the ditch on Highway 5 south of Kamloops. There was concern that the driver of the vehicle was impaired.

The officer who responded found the man was acting strange and appeared to be impaired.

The man gave the officer a fake name and then took off running through the bush into the countryside.

RCMP dog services were called and tracked down the man who was arrested.

Police discovered the car had been reported stolen in December, and in the trunk were several items which had been reported stolen throughout January.

The man is known to police and is being held for court.

Charges have not been determined as of yet.
