Body found in tent

RCMP are investigating the discovery of a body on Mission Flats Road in Kamloops.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says a citizen saw a tent behind a tree, Wednesday, as he was walking along the Thompson River, next to Mission Flats Road.

“The citizen approached the tent, but as he got close ... he could smell a strong odour. Police were notified, and when the officers entered the tent, they found a badly decomposed body,” said Shelkie. “It appears that the body is of an adult male. At this time, there is no evidence leading the RCMP to believe the death is suspicious."

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the tent, she said.

The BC Coroner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and approximate age and height of the deceased male.

“Police are researching all missing person files, and the investigation is ongoing,” said Shelkie.
