Due to extremely dry conditions and public safety, the Fortis pipeline right-of-way between Barnhartvale and Rose Hill is closed to public access until further notice.
City of Kamloops Bylaw staff will be patrolling to ensure compliance.
The closure is in addition to other nature park closures currently in place. The parks are closed to all bike, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic.
Residents are reminded smoking is always prohibited in city parks. Given the extremely dry conditions, the city urges residents to be extremely cautious with cigarettes in all areas.
The public can play a part in fire prevention by staying aware, reporting fires immediately, and keeping all vehicles and bikes away from dry areas.
