Transit driver threatened

A 54-year-old man is in police custody after threatening a transit driver in Kamloops..

BC Transit contacted police shortly before 7:30 Monday evening after a man was seen sharpening a knife on the bus, making other passengers feel uncomfortable.

When the driver asked the man to get off the bus, the man threatened the driver.

Police got on the bus at a stop of Lansdowne Street and arrested the suspect without incident.

They found a four-inch knife and sharpener in his pocket.

The man, previously known to police, is being held in custody.

He will appear in court Tuesday on charges of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public and uttering threats.
