Thieves hit golf course

A robbery attempt at the Rivershore Golf Course in Kamloops was thwarted by police, who arrived just in the nick of time.

RCMP were notified by the alarm company of the break-in, about 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Thieves had gained entry to a building by cutting a hole through an exterior wall. The suspects then attempted to cover up the motion detectors.

Police say several golf clubs had been bundled and taped together, but were left behind as the thieves made their escape. A safe at the golf course had also been tampered with.

It’s believed the thieves had someone watching for police, which is why they were able to escape when authorities arrived, RCMP say.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious near the golf course or the Lafarge Bridge to call the Kamloops Rural RCMP or CrimeStoppers.
