No fines for crow whisperer

The City of Kamloops has reached a deal with a local resident whose feeding of crows caused quite a disturbance in his neighbourhood.

In a press release issued Monday afternoon, the city says discussions with a Mr. Jackson resulted in an agreement to stop feeding the birds at or near his residence.

The city says the agreement, over time, should put a stop to the birds following Jackson to his residence and creating nuisance concerns for others' safety.

In general, community safety and enforcement manager Jon Wilson says people should not be concerned with feeding birds or having feeders on their property. It is only in rare instances, such as this, the activity is identified as a nuisance.

In such cases, the city contacts affected parties to discuss the situation and resolve concerns before fines are contemplated.

Through discussion with Jackson and with his cooperation, the parties involved have reached an opportunity for compliance. The city therefore withdraws all fines that were issued.
