United Way strengthens communities

When Fall is in the air, it means the United Way Campaign has started. After another successful Drive Thru Breakfast, it is time to start the work of raising funds to help our community partners sustain the necessary programs that make our community a better place for everyone.

United Way believes in building strong communities by ensuring our kids are healthy and ready to start school, that youth are engaged in their communities, that seniors can live independently for as long as possible, and those with challenges receive the support they need.

“Our financial goal for this year is $300,000 which reflects the genuine need for services in our communities.” said Linda Yule of United Way North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap.

“The United Way Campaign is about more than fundraising. It’s about a vision for a community where everyone can live a good quality life. It’s about working together for the common good.”

“We have many steadfast, long-term donors who give individually or through their workplace payroll deduction program, as well as corporate donors. We thank them all for their generosity.” said Yule.

“When you donate to United Way, your money goes into the Community Fund – a pool of donations that draws on the combined strength of donors like you, to strengthen individuals, families and communities by supporting services that improve people’s lives. The Community Fund helps in the short term by meeting immediate needs and in the long term by addressing the root causes of social issues.”
