Pizza Hut Supports JDRF

PH Restaurants LP is pleased to announce that this year it has raised $104,912 for the 2019 ‘Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes’ benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Throughout 9 weeks in 2019, Pizza Hut customers, managers and team members generously donated by purchasing paper sneakers in restaurants and participating in local fundraising events leading up to the Walk in June. This marks the 12th year of Pizza Hut’s involvement with JDRF and brings the total funds raised to $489,912.

All monies raised by Pizza Hut go to JDRF, whose mission is preventing and treating Type 1 Diabetes, it’s complications, and finding a cure. For over 40 years, JDRF has been a global leader to ensure the best research is accelerating a life-changing breakthrough to a cure. There are over 300,000 Canadians living with Type 1 Diabetes, and with the average incidence rate been growing at an estimated 5.1% per year – higher than the global average- the expected cost to our health care system be higher than $16.9 billion by 2020. PH Restaurants LP is honoured to fundraise towards advancements for this important cause.

Across BC, fifty-one Pizza Hut stores actively participated in this year’s fundraising campaign. “We are very proud of our restaurant teams and our customers overwhelming support for this very important cause”
said Mike Cyr, President of PH Restaurants LP. “Pizza Hut strongly believes in getting involved locally which is why it chose an organization like JDRF.” JDRF has also recognized PH Restaurants LP for their amazing fundraising efforts, being commemorated as a 2018 Honoree as consistently achieving higher fundraising goals year after year. “Here at JDRF BC & Yukon, we applaud the tremendous passion and commitment from the PH Restaurants team across the province. Their dedication to raising funds for Type 1 Diabetes research is truly inspiring. The efforts of every employee are making a huge difference for 300,000 Canadians living with Type 1 Diabetes and we are extremely grateful for their ongoing support to help raise
funds and awareness.” said Dayna Backus, Regional Director – BC & Yukon, JDRF.

On behalf of its 51 Pizza Hut restaurants in BC, PH Restaurants LP presents a cheque for $104,912 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
