Call for bat boys & girls!

The KGH Foundation is looking for five young athletes to fulfill some very special roles at the second annual Gorges Comeau HOMEBASE Charity Slo-Pitch All-Star Game on Friday, June 28 at Elks Stadium.

Bat boys and girls are needed to support each of our two, celebrity NHL softball teams!  We are also looking for a special youth athlete to throw the official first pitch of the game.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to meet some of the NHL’s biggest stars, including Josh Gorges, Blake Comeau, Shea Weber, Carey Price (and more!), learn about working as a team and be a part of the MOST ENTERTAINING family event of the summer.

Thanks to the generosity of Bat Kids sponsor August Luxury Motorcars, this year’s bat girls and boys will also be treated to a once-in- a lifetime dream ride and ‘grand’ entrance to the game!

To be eligible, athletes must be:
•                    Between the ages of 8 – 11
•                    Available Friday, June 29, 3pm  - 9:30pm
•                    Willing and able to fetch bats, balls, water and whatever else our celebrity players need during  the game!
•                    A big sports fan!
•                    Ready to wave, smile and get fans excited!

To apply for this very important volunteer role, kids are asked to submit the following information

Name, age and sports team(s) that you play on
A photo of you in your team uniform – we’d like you to be prepared to wear your uniform and represent your team at the game!

Tell us WHY you think that it’s important for families to be together when a loved one is sick.  If you or a family member has had to travel for care, please share your story!

Submit by email to [email protected] by Mon. Jun. 17. Late applications will not be accepted.
Successful applicants will be notified by Weds. Jun. 19.

Each selected Bat Boy/Girl will receive free admittance, and two complimentary general admission tickets to the NHL All-Star Match.

HOMEBASE is a charity fundraising event to support JoeAnna’s House, a home away from home for the families of patients from across BC who must travel to KGH for advanced medical care.   The event was established in 2018 by local NHL hero, former Kelowna Rocket and current Buffalo Sabre’s defenseman, Josh Gorges and his good friend and fellow Rockets alumni, Blake Comeau.
