The 15th Annual Seniors Safety Fair is returning to Kelowna on Wednesday, June 12th with a wide variety of resources and information geared toward seniors and their caregivers.
This free event will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church on Springfield Road. The feature presenter for the event will be Hope Kelly from Home Instead Senior Care, who will talk about the issue of scammers targeting seniors. “We get several calls a week from frightened clients who think they are going to jail because of their taxes! It’s so tragic that they are being targeted with these phone scams, and this type of information can help empower our clients to know how to identify scammers and how to react,” says Kristin Stratulat, Program Manager at Seniors Outreach.
In addition to the keynote address, service provider information booths will be set up so seniors, family and friends can come and gather important information to help protect their loved ones. There will also be hearing screenings from and other health checks, as well as free refreshments and door prizes.
