On April 14,2019 Front Street Gallery in Penticton converted the gallery to a Tea Shop for this year’s Cancer Society Fundraiser. April is known as Daffodil Month and is associated with fundraising for The Canadian Cancer Society.
Tickets where pre-sold to 3 settings in the gallery. Each guest was treated to Formal Tea with antique fine china, lace table cloths and special attention. Teas and Weaves of Penticton donated 2 fragrant selections of teas for each of 12 tables of guests. Fergie Foster of Nest and Nectar worked her magic to contribute beautiful 2 bite treats on a 3-tier server and the traditional scones, jam and crème for each table. Servers dressed for Tea in facinators provided by Three Wishes assisted guests in their selection. Some guests came ready to party in Tea Party apparel, what fun. With beautiful paintings on the wall a lovely tea setting. Yes, there were daffodils. Carl’s Flowers (neighbors on Front Street) and Flowers on the Bench contributed colorful displays of spring.
During the tea guests were also invited to bid on a silent auction. Those daffodil flower arrangements, a basket from Gardenworks, donations from Peaches, Zyia active wear and paintings contributed by the 12 artists at Front Street Gallery were all available to bid on. This is not the first time that artists at Front Street Gallery have raised funds for The Canadian Cancer Society. In 2016 paintings displayed in the window of daffodils were all sold for a nominal price that was contributed to the Fundraiser. This year’s event spearheaded by Diana Skelhorne, one of three partners in the gallery has gone beyond a couple of steps further. Each artist in the gallery has been touched by Cancer, either as a survivor, caregiver or as supporter of loved ones. Each year it seems we are recognizing someone new in our efforts. That is why each of us at Front Street Gallery looks for ways to show our support to this fundraiser. Our hopes are that continued progress in stopping and curing cancer will continue.
Thank you to all our contributors to this successful event. Our 12 artists, some of whom sold their donated painting ahead of the auction for full price by offering it on their Facebook page to the first bidder of full price. Teas and Weaves for their soothing teas and Nest and Nectar Restaurant (Fergie Foster) for the tasty bites, all the silent auction items and cash and on-line donations, all of you that took part in this event in someway or other. In total, from all efforts in the day, just over $2000 was raised to contribute to The Canadian Cancer fund. Our sincere appreciation. What a wonderful gift to pass along.
