Support for Youth Centre

Our Westside Youth Centre has a fully operating bathroom and laundry room, and we have our strong community of supporters to thank for that! This stunning new upgrade would not have been possible without the initial donation of $25,000 from the West Kelowna Daybreak Rotary Club. This donation got the ball rolling and with a major project in mind our facilities team directed money received from the Invasion Championship Wrestling donation to fully fund the renovation and see the project come to life!

As you may know with any renovation you may face some challenges and delays, and indeed we did. With more support flying in we made it through those challenges. City Furniture provided washer and dryers at cost, Bachelder Construction (Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs Contractor of Choice) also contributed by covering cost, Shaw donated hygiene products and we even had Interior Saving stop by to help with clean up! It’s truly amazing how caring and resilient our community is. This past week we were able to welcome our supporters back to the Westside Youth Centre for the Grand Opening of our Shower Space.

Kristy Butterworth, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs Youth and Family Programs Director thanked the community members at the grand opening stating “You have provided us with support to breakdown a barrier for youth in our community wanting to take a positive step forward in their lives.” Kristy knows first-hand how important this renovation is and how much work and heart went into this project.

The Westside Youth Centre Staff are happily enjoying the upgrade which provides youth with access to a shower and washing machine helping the staff when it comes to teach the youth life skills. The Youth Centre is proud to announce they have also switched from disposable cloths to reusable dish clothes!
