Free Health Assessment

People over the age of 50 are invited to gain insight on their personal health by joining a free health assessment Friday, March 29 at H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre.

Each one-on-one assessment is approximately 60 minutes in length, evaluating factors such as blood pressure, cardiovascular endurance, agility, strength, flexibility, balance and more.

“Many people don’t know where to start on the journey to improving health,” says Alyssa Jackson, YMCA Health Promotions Supervisor. “It’s important to know where you are now, so that you can set goals based on your strengths and weaknesses. Our Health Coaches can guide you in what areas to focus on, and how our YMCA programs and services can help. The goal is to keep seniors active and independent, doing the things they love for longer.”

Les and Donna Mash were wanting to become more active and figured a YMCA’s Senior’s Health Assessment would be a great starting point.

“The assessment showed us a lot of areas where we were lacking and what we needed to work on,” Donna states. “We realized that our balance had pretty much disappeared.”

Since attending, the couple has integrated physical activity into their lifestyle. They became YMCA members and come three times a week which they have found to be very beneficial to their overall health. They also utilize a variety of free services available to members including free Health Coaching, Aquatic Fitness classes, Mingle Mondays, the Healthy Hips & Knees program and more.

Registration is required with limited space. To reserve your health assessment time call 250-491-9622 ext. 426.
