Resident loses the booze

Don’t expect to find Amanda Zais visiting any of the local wineries this February.

The Kelowna resident is set to take on the BC Cancer Foundation’s Lose the Booze next month, where participants go alcohol-free for 28 days while fundraising in support of cancer research and enhancements to patient care.

Though not a regular consumer of alcohol, there is one drink Amanda says she will miss the most. “The fabulous Okanagan wines!” she says. “We have an abundance of incredible wineries here.” No stranger to fundraising, Amanda knows how her support is helping change the outcome for families impacted by cancer. "Supporting cancer research is extremely meaningful to me – we all have someone we love who is affected by this life-changing illness,” she says. “I am happy to lend my support in keeping our loved ones with us longer, and to encourage leading a healthy lifestyle at the same time. It’s incredibly important to me.” Over the past four years, Lose the Booze has raised over $240,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation.

With one in two British Columbians facing a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, support from Lose the Booze has helped fuel significant research discoveries and improve care for people facing this disease.
