Etcetera Prom

70 young people attended Etcetera Prom June 16th at the Okanagan Boys and Girls (OBGC) Martin Ave Club. The Etcetera Prom is an affirmative and inclusive dance for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies.
Etcetera extends a special thanks to DJ Isaiah Lot for rocking the dance party in the gym and to Loyal Wooldridge and the team at Loyal Hair Therapy for helping the Glitter Critters (Etcetera youth) to be their best haired selves while dressing up in the finest formal clothing collected from local community members by Transparent Okanagan and donated by OBGC drop in and The Bridge.  Enough candy for a candy store, healthy veggies, yummy chips and pizza were donated by Loyal Wooldridge, Patti DeBoer, and OBGC Downtown Drop-in to keep energy high and the youth bouncing.
Etcetera runs two programs: a weekly youth group for kids ages 11-18 and a monthly caregivers group that meet at Foundry Kelowna. Etcetera aims to help encourage a collective of proud, diverse people who support one another on their journeys, and a city where LGBT2Q+ youth are valued as integral to the fabric of our community tapestry.
Etcetera is currently managed by The Bridge Youth & Family Services.  We will be participating in several upcoming Pride events: see us at the Trans March, the Pride March, and check out our booth at the Pride Festival! If you’d like to know more, please contact The Bridge Youth & Family Services or you can find us on Facebook and Instagram as Etcetera Youth Group and Etcetera_Youth respectively.
