Covered in Kindness

The Anchor Society Thrift Store in Rutland is organizing a blanket drive for the needy.

From March 1 to 30, the store will collect blankets after being approached by Metro Church.

Organizers then contacted other local agencies that help the homeless and found a real need.

The Covered in Kindness blanket drive was born.

Good quality, warm, lightly used blankets are sought. They will be distributed to Metro Church Kelowna, Kelowna Gospel Mission, Houses of Mercy and others.

If you have a blanket you would like to donate, please visit www.bowtiesandlittleguys.com

The thrift store opened nine months ago with a mission to provide shoes and school supplies to orphans in the West Indies and to assist in the local community.

A team of people from the Kelowna area travelled to Montego Bay, Jamacia, in 2014 with 800 pairs of shoes donated from Soles for Souls and Kelowna Christian Centre.

The shoes were distributed to school-age students, and two orphanages. Another trip is planned this May.
