WE scare Hunger!

In a unique drive to collect non-perishable food items for the Kelowna Food Bank, 500+ students at Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School were challenged to be “Hunger Heroes” inspired by the ‘WE Scare Hunger’  campaign by Free The Children, an international charity organization that empowers youth to become active local and global citizens. The students brought in food throughout the week leading up to Halloween, where collection bins placed throughout the Junior and Senior Schools were overflowed with wholesome and nutritious, non-perishable food items. In an atmosphere of good-natured competitiveness, children from Pre-K to Gr. 12 vied to tip the generosity scale by having their class collect the most food donations; a challenge where everyone wins!

The Gr. 7 class delivered the non-perishable food items on Monday, November 3rd to the Kelowna Food Bank totaling over 1500lbs. The students at Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School became part of the growing effort to bring awareness and aid to those who go hungry everyday.
