2nd annual Okanagan Trestle Tour

Ride the Historic Kettle Valley Rail Trail, one of the most scenic regions in all of BC.  You’re invited to the second annual Okanagan Trestles Tour on BC’s Trans- Canada Trail. Experience it!

This self-paced recreational ride is not a timed race, but the chance to do a one-day trip on the historic Kettle Valley Rail Trail.  The 80km route starts at Myra Canyon (A National Historic Site) to Penticton.  New for 2014 is a 40km option starting at Chute Lake to Penticton. Enjoy riding over trestles, through tunnels & witnessing stunning views of the Okanagan Valley, as you approach Penticton you will be riding through the heart of Okanagan Wine Country with vineyard’s on both sides of the rail trail.

There are rest stops offering food, drinks and mechanical support is on route. As cyclists arrive at the Penticton Lakeside Hotel and Resort , they’ll be greeted by live music, a BBQ and wine/beer.

2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the completion of the trestles in Myra Canyon (construction took place 1912-1914), the trestles were destroyed in the 2003 Okanagan Mountain Fire then rebuild with the efforts of the Myra Canyon Trestle Restoration Society and the Federal Government Disaster Fund spending 17.5 million dollars to rebuild this national historic site.  Myra Canyon was re-opened in 2008 to great fanfare.  The inaugural Okanagan Trestles Tour in 2013 was a huge success with 844 participates enjoying the beautiful ride.

Abandoned railway corridors hold unparalleled opportunities as recreational trails, and the Kettle Valley Railway is no exception. The KVR offers panoramic scenery out over Okanagan Lake, and cycling is the perfect way to see it.     

Registration includes a special event T-shirt, BBQ, wine/beer & live music.  Early bird pricing starting at $100.00 (adults)($30.00 for the shuttle Service) is in effect now until March 31, 2014.   Registration fees starting at $120.00 from April 1 -June 15. 

The event will be supporting the Myra Canyon Trestles Restoration Society.  Okanagan Trestles Tour is proud to partner with BC Parks, Trails BC, Trans Canada Trail, Tourism Penticton, Tourism Kelowna and the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association.

Note: All bikes are welcome, mountain bikes are recommended.
