Lakeview Heights - Woman's shelter fundraiser

Shear Chic Hair Salon and The Lakeview Heights Shopping Centre and are pleased to announce a community awareness initiative 2nd annual  “We Give To You ” show your support for the Kelowna Women’s Shelter and their programs.  There will be many special items from retail merchants for the silent auction, there also will be “gift basket” draws during this event! The Kelowna Women’s Shelter will have their literature and info about their community programs available.

“We value being a responsible corporate citizen, working with community organizations, so come out and enjoy We Give To You, and show your support for the Kelowna Women’s Shelter and their much needed programs," says Shelley Lyttle, owner of Shear Chic at The Lakeview Heights Shopping Centre.

                    Donations can be dropped off Saturday until Saturday 10 am till 5pm each day

Donation & Auction Center: Donations of cash, grocery gift cards, non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies are graciously accepted by the shelter.  The shelter serves over 14,000 meals per year to the women and children who stay at their transition house so gifts like these are greatly needed and appreciated.  These items will then be distributed by Kelowna Women’s Shelter.

The Kelowna Women's Shelter is a leader in promoting healthy relationships and preventing violence in our community. One of our main goals is to ensure that women in our community know about our services and how to reach out for help if they experience relationship abuse. One of the most effective ways that we can achieve this goal is by fostering community partnerships that allow us to provide information to more people

 

Organizational Information

   Since 1980, the Kelowna Women's Shelter has provided Shelter and a wide range of support services to women and children who have been impacted by family violence. Our programs and services include: 

 

•          Crisis Phone Line - fully staffed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
•          Transition House Program (short-term)
•          WISH - 2nd Stage Home (long-term)
•          Children Who Witness Abuse Program - individual and group counselling for children and teens age 3-18
•          Inside/Out Violence Prevention Program for youth, delivered in schools,, kindergarten to grade 12
•          Outreach Program - supportive counselling and advocacy services for women
•          Support and Educational Groups for Women
•          Childcare for Shelter residents using other services such as counselling or support groups
•          Client transportation and accompaniment to appointments and court
•          Volunteers, Community Awareness and Events Program
