Taste Of Kelowna

The 17th annual Taste of Kelowna is this Sunday 6 March and it is set to satisfy even the biggest appetite.

With a full house of restaurants and more creative menus than ever before, the region’s number one food fair will offer a world of flavours and cooking styles. Vietnamese, Malaysian and Fijian foods are being offered for the first time. Japanese, Thai, European, Mexican, Chinese, East Indian & good old North American steak and seafood are also all on the menu. There will be mouthwatering desserts and wine, beer or soft drinks to wash it all down.

You could try the maple garlic short ribs with crispy sweet potato, be adventurous with the tuna tartar with lime salsa or spice things up with a chicken masala curry. And for dessert why not try the chocolate drizzle strawberries or almond roca bars?

Local restaurants are keen to show off their culinary delights to Kelowna’s food loving public. “It’s like the world’s biggest Sunday lunch.” says organizer Rose Sexsmith of Coyote’s restaurant “And the ideal chance to try out restaurants you haven’t eaten at for just a dollar or two. The more you eat the more that goes to charity. There are over eighty samples on offer so come hungry!”

The Taste of Kelowna is at the Grand Okanagan Hotel Ballroom, 1310 Water Street, on Sunday March 6 from 11am-4pm. There is live entertainment for all the family organised by KADAC (Kelowna and District Arts Council). Everyone has the chance to win hundreds of dollars of restaurant gift certificates in the free Grand Prize Draw and can vote for their favorite stand in the “People’s Choice” competition.

Admission is $4 (free 5 years or under). Tasting Tickets just $1. All food and drink samples are just one or two tickets. Net proceeds go to support the Kelowna Food Bank, Kids Care and Central Okanagan Bursaries & Scholarships Society (COBSS).
