Shawn Desman coming to Gotcha's

Just a few days ago, Shawn Desman wasn't expecting to be performing in Kelowna.

The plan for the Juno award winning singer/song writer was to travel directly from Vancouver to Calgary as part of a coast to coast tour he is undertaking as the opening act for the Backstreet Boys.

Then, earlier this week, the ball started rolling on a possible side show.

“I was doing a series of interviews with a radio station in Kelowna and they kept saying, 'you gotta come here!' 'You gotta come here!' Then people started making calls and things just snowballed and over the course of about two days, a one night only show was scheduled for me in Kelowna,” says Desman.

Desman, plus four back up dancers, will be performing Saturday night at Gotcha's nightclub on Leon Avenue.

“It just kinda worked out perfectly, timing wise because I had Saturday off anyway. I'll be doing the exact same show I'll be doing for the Backstreet Boys during the tour, a good half hour, 40 minutes of my hits and some songs from my new album.”

He says he is thrilled to have another opportunity to perform during the tour.

“I just plain love being on stage. It doesn't matter if the crowd is in the thousands or in the hundreds. You don't get the full Shawn Desman experience until you see me live. This is what I live for.”

Desman says the big show, for him personally, will be the show in Toronto, towards the end of the tour as that will be the performance attended by the most of his family and friends.

“I'm really looking forward to the whole tour especially since some of the best sleep I've ever gotten has been on a tour bus. There is something about the movement and noise of the engine that I find really relaxing.”

The Gotcha's show starts at 8 p.m., tickets are $15 at the door.
