Phil Collins kicks off Genesis reunion tour from a chair

Frail Phil sings from chair

Genesis kicked off their farewell tour in Birmingham, England on Monday night with a frail Phil Collins singing from a chair on stage.

The Against All Odds singer was seated throughout the first night of the band's The Last Domino? trek.

The show marked the trio's first live performance in 13 years.

Collins recently told Mojo magazine the tour, which features his son, Nic, on drums, will be Genesis' swan song, explaining, "This English and American tour, that will be enough for me."

The In the Air Tonight hitmaker has overcome a string of health issues in recent years, and explained he can no longer drum as a result of a spinal injury.

"My vertebrae have been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in," he explained. "It comes from years of playing. I can't even hold the sticks properly without it being painful; I even used to tape the sticks to my hands to get through (a set)."
