Do We Need Remakes?

MARY-KATE and ASHLEY OLSEN were spotted watching BOB SAGET's set at the Laugh Factory in LA along with their "Full House" big brother, JOHN STAMOS. The twins were drinking cranberry and orange juice, and reportedly tipped their waitress $100.

JENNA and BARBARA BUSH --who've both graduated from college-- have been offered a modeling contract from Ambassador Promotions in New York City. Star magazine reports it could wind up being "a multimillion-dollar deal." Like you wouldn't assume that.

Do we need another remake of the DON ADDAMS sitcom, "Get Smart"? Apparently so, since Daily Variety magazine sez former "Daily Show" reporter STEVE CARELL has been cast in the role of the bumbling secret agent for a film version of the sitcom.

And, do we need a re-make of the kids' movie, "The Love Bug,"? It's already in the works, too. This time Herbie goes to the NASCAR races --which ought to be a sight catching the Beetle in among the stock cars-- as MICHAEL KEATON takes on the DEAN JONES role with LINDSAY LOHAN and MATT DILLON just added as the bad guy on the racing circuit. Tentative title according to the Hollywood Reporter: "Herbie: Fully Loaded."

The paperback of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" comes out Tuesday with a first printing of 2 million and a sky-high promotional campaign. Scholastic Inc., the U.S. publisher, said the book will be supported by a $1 million campaign that includes newspaper, radio and billboard advertisements. Scholastic has also hired promotional planes to fly over Lake Michigan, Cape Cod, Mass., and other resort areas.
"Phoenix," the fifth of seven planned novels in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series, came out last summer in hardcover and sold 5 million copies the first day..
