Mythbusters' Grant dies

Mythbusters host Grant Imahara has died suddenly aged 49.

The electrical engineer and roboticist, best known for presenting the much-loved science show, suffered a brain aneurysm, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant. He was an important part of our Discovery family and a really wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family," a representative for Discovery, the U.S. network which broadcasts Mythbusters, said in a statement.

Imahara joined Mythbusters in 2005, on season three of the show, and stayed with the program until 2014. He later reunited with some of his former co-hosts for Netflix's White Rabbit Project in 2016.

Kari Byron, who worked with Imahara on both Mythbusters and White Rabbit Project, shared a picture of himself and the late star on Instagram on Monday night, writing: "Somedays I wish I had a time machine."

Before making a name for himself on the small screen, Imahara worked as a visual effects artist and model maker at Lucasfilm's THX and Industrial Light and Magic divisions, working on movies such as Jurassic Park and A.I. Artificial Intelligence.
