Dustin Hoffman Saves Life

Catherine Zeta-Jones took the stand yesterday at a preliminary hearing for a stalker who threatened to kill her. Dawnette Knight is charged with 25 counts of stalking Zeta-Jones, using threatening phone calls and letters. In one of the letters, Knight said Zeta-Jones would be quote, "shredded up like Sharon Tate was.” Outside the courthouse, Knight's fiancé, Ronald Calvin, defended her and even tried to pass the buck. Dustin Hoffman was in the right place at the right time a couple of weeks ago in Florida, when his quick thinking possibly saved the life of a woman who had been stung by a bee. Dustin and his wife Lisa had been sunning themselves on the deck of their Florida home when they learned a visitor to the area had been stung by a bee and was showing signs of going into shock. They grabbed the emergency bee-sting kit they keep on hand, since Lisa is also allergic to bees, and hurried over to Lydia Graham. The woman's face had started to swell when the Hoffmans administered the antidote, but the symptoms quickly disappeared, and Graham was invited to the actor's home to recover.

If Robert Schiff is to be believed, The West Wing's days are numbered. The actor, who plays White House communications director Toby Ziegler on the NBC political drama, was on hand last night at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. He was quoted as saying, "I honestly don't think it's the last year, but maybe the year after that. The plans are that it's going to go a full term, eight years. Thank God, constitutionally we can't go more than that."
