Pearl Jam to record again

Pearl Jam are to release Gigaton, their first studio album in seven years, in March.

The band have continued to tour since their last record, the Grammy-winning Lightning Bolt, was released in 2013, with lead guitarist Mike McCready revealing in a press release that it had taken them longer than planned to finish Gigaton.

"Making this record was a long journey," McCready explains. "It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times."

The first single, Dance of the Clairvoyants, will be released soon, before the band will begin a North American tour in March, which then heads to Europe over the summer.

Gigaton will be available March 27.
