Beckham hotel in China

Soccer star David Beckham is making a foray into the hotel industry as he prepares to open a London-themed hotel in China.

The star will launch The Londoner in partnership with Sands China in Macau - dubbed the 'Vegas of the East' - with the venue featuring several nods to his hometown.

With a replica of iconic clock tower Big Ben, an exterior representing Westminster and the Houses of Parliament, and stunning glass atrium modeled on luxury hotel Claridge's of London, the hotel will also include details such as black taxi cabs, red telephone boxes, and even a recreation of the city's upmarket Bond Street shopping district.

The Londoner will also pay tribute to the star's love of traditional British cuisine, with an eatery serving up traditional platters including Sunday roasts and pie and mash on-site, run by celebrity chef and David's close pal, Gordon Ramsay.

Speaking to Travel + Leisure magazine, the ex England captain revealed he will have a key role in designing concept suites for the hotel.

"London is my hometown, so to be able to bring some of the things I love from there to Macau " that sense of energy, humor, and attitude in the furniture and artwork " is a great feeling," he said. "We're going to have everything from our iconic black cabs outside to mini recreations of some of London's most famous streets inside, like Bond Street and Saville Row."

In terms of amenities, the luxury vacation spot will also boast three spas and four health clubs, a two-floor boutique for suit design as well as a 200-store shopping center of British brands, called Shoppes at The Londoner.

There will also be a selection of restaurants opening on-site, and live events and screenings will be held at the hotel's Streetmosphere entertainment venue.
