Appraise treasures at gallery

Time to dig through those dusty items tucked away in your storage to find out if you might be holding on to unknown riches!

Learn the value of your art, antiques, and collectibles from the professionals. The Kelowna Art Gallery invites you to join art and antiques appraisers Colin Ritchie and Susan Whitney for Revealing Riches, on Friday, May 11, from 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday, May 12, from 10 am to 1 pm.

Fifteen-minute-long appointments will be held throughout the day at which Ritchie and Whitney will be giving opinions on the value of antiques, collectibles, original art, and prints or reproductions. Each session allows for the viewing of up to three items, subject to the time constraint.

The cost for an appraisal session is $50.00 and partial proceeds from this event will support educational programs and exhibitions at the Kelowna Art Gallery.

To make an appointment, please call the Kelowna Art Gallery at 250-762-2226. Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your time slot. Assessments are verbal opinions on value, and are not suitable for insurance purposes.

Please note that jewellery, coins, stamps, guns, and wristwatches, are not able to be appraised.  Individuals who wish to have large furniture pieces assessed are asked to bring in a portion of the piece, e.g. a drawer, along with a photograph, and the item’s measurements. Items thought to be over four hundred years old cannot be assessed at this event.

The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street, in the heart of the Cultural District in downtown Kelowna. For hours of operation, or for more information about programming, current exhibitions, or special events, please visit www.kelownaartgallery.com.
