New Reality Show

Reality show producer Mark Burnett is apparently launching a rock 'n' roll take on American Idol, and he's asked one of the Fox show's top producers to help him do it. David Goffin, will work with Burnett on an edgier version of "Idol" ... focusing on rock music. But rather than finding the next Fantasia or Clay Aiken, this series will search for a singer who could step in as the front-man of an existing, internationally known rock group. Burnett is expected to pitch the concept to networks next week.

Could Star Wars become a TV Series? Star Wars creator GEORGE LUCAS is in talks to make a TV series based on the films. It'll supposedly be set after 1983's Return Of The Jedi, and will feature the continuing stories of Luke, Han Solo and Princess Leia.

MADONNA has landed another film role - reportedly playing a gun-slinging 1920s cowgirl. Madonna will play silent movie star Texas Guinan in MARTIN SCORSESE's big-screen musical Hello Sucker! The story is based on the life of legendary horseback rider Guinan, who made a career appearing in Hollywood Westerns

Alex Kingston has lost her medical license. Kingston, who plays Dr. Elizabeth Corday, on "ER," says she was recently told that after seven years on the show, her contract would not be renewed but she says, she's being axed for being too old.

TBS Tuesday announced casting calls in six U.S. cities over the next month for its planned reality series The Real Gilligan's Island.
Producers are seeking people who fit the profiles of the characters on Gilligan's Island, The Real Gilligan's Island -- featuring a real-life skipper, first mate, millionaire couple, movie star, Kansas farm girl and professor -- will put contestants in situations similar to those encountered by the fictional characters after the wreck of the S.S. Minnow. The Real Gilligan's Island is scheduled to premiere in fall 2004.
