20/20 comedy this Friday

Comedian Darryl Lenox is on the road with his new 20/20 tour that will stop at the Kelowna Community Theatre this Friday, April 22. Tickets are available through www.selectyourtickets.com.

In 2013, Stagetime Magazine named his CD Blind Ambition “One of the Top 5 Comedy Albums of 2013,” joining Louis CK, Reggie Watts, Tig Notaro and the late Patrice O’Neal.

You may be wondering why his special and comedy tour both have such obvious references to vision, and it all dates back to a bar brawl here in Canada that forever changed his life. Lenox almost lost all of the vision in both of his eyes, but thanks to one very talented doctor and an extremely risky eye surgery, he did not.

The content of Lenox’s show goes deep, discussing the possibility of never seeing again, the accompanying depression and thoughts of suicide which he cleverly maneuvers through with incredible skill and humour, as well as a wide range of other, more light-hearted and hilarious topics.

Living with a visual impairment has refined Lenox’s perspective, allowing him to cut through audience preconceptions, discard self-pity, and deliver pitch-perfect repartee that leave audiences spellbound and sore from laughter. Lenox compares his show to a roller-coaster ride — full of ups and downs, tension and release.

Lenox has performed on Comedy Central’s “Jamie Foxx’s Laffa Polooza.” He has also appeared on Conan O’Brien and was interviewed by Marc Maron on an episode of Maron’s hugely popular WTF podcast — both to rave reviews.

Tickets for Darryl Lenox 20/20 Tour this Friday April 22 at the Kelowna Community Theatre are available through www.selectyourtickets.com, in person at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
