CRIME: Park vandalism

An environmental crime was recently discovered in a Mission area park and police are now involved.

Ten mature ponderosa pines were cut down and two more damaged in Mission Ridge Park (located directly below Westpoint Drive). These trees are an important part of the natural ecosystem providing valuable slope stability. This was serious illegal activity, punishable by steep fines.

An RCMP investigation is underway and City of Kelowna staff strongly encourage anyone with information to come forward with any details they may have to locate those responsible.
