CRIME:           FAKE GOLD SCAM

DATE:             October 8, 2019

RCMP FILE:    2019-63353

Lake Country RCMP were called by a couple scammed out of a significant amount of money when they thought they were helping out a female in need.  The couple was approached in a parking lot on Oceola Road on October 7, 2019 by a female who said she had taken gold necklaces, rings and bracelets from her boyfriend and was trying to get away to leave an abusive relationship.  While the couple was initially skeptical, they felt the gold passed a few initial tests.  The jewellery was later taken to a jeweller where chemical tests determined the pieces to be fake.  The suspect is described as an approximately 30-year old light-complexioned South Asian female, 5’2” tall, heavy set, with freckles, brown hair, brown eyes and gold teeth.  She was with a male described as also being South Asian, 25-35 years old, 5’5” tall with a moustache.  They were driving a 2001 black Mercedes with a 10- year old boy in the vehicle.

You can help catch these suspects and qualify for a reward by calling Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tips line at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit our website at www.crimestoppers.net.
