CRIME: THEFT OF ELECTRIC PEDAL ASSIST BIKE

The owner of an unusual bike called in its disappearance on the morning of April 15th. Sometime overnight thieves had taken the bike from the 1200 block of Lawson Avenue in Kelowna. The bicycle is described as being a grey Globe customized cycle with an extended tube style frame, two different sized wheels, a wooden deck and bionic motor hub over the back wheel with an electric pedal assist motor over the frame. The bicycle can go up to 30 km/ hour and also has regular pedals.

Kelowna RCMP have recently been inundated with files from local businesses where suspects have passed counterfeit $20 and $50 US bills. The bills have been used at businesses from thrift stores to Casinos throughout Kelowna and West Kelowna and are generally not noticed until the deposit is being processed at financial institutions. Kelowna RCMP investigators suggest that retailers protect themselves by becoming familiar with steps to detect counterfeit currency.
