BC Transit says surveillance cameras will be rolling on some buses in the central Okanagan next spring after a man was stabbed to death on Kelowna transit.
Bus passengers helped police identify a suspect after the stabbing last Thursday.
BC Transit spokeswoman Meribeth Burton says there has been an appetite in the larger centres to have the camera equipment, and BC Transit will be looking for a vender for the camera service by the end of this year.
She says surveillance cameras will be installed on buses across the province in the spring, something that has been in the works for more than two years.
About one-third of the TransLink buses in the Vancouver area are equipped with cameras, but buses in the rest of the province do not have the security measure.
